Poster design by Su Hyun Youn — All proceeds aid Gaza through The Big Heart Foundation
A poster created during the Palestine Solidarity Poster Design Workshop by Listen to the City. The topic “The Ongoing Process of Colonial Occupation” and the technique “Leaving More Than Half the Page Blank” were picked by drawing lots.
The letters on poster were retrained from the Balfour Declaration, a letter written by British Foreign Secretary Arthur Balfour, recognizing Palestine as the “national home for the Jewish people.” This document later served as a historical justification for the occupation.
From the original text of the Balfour Declaration, only selected letters were left visible, while the rest were erased revealing a new sentence in support of Palestine. Like watermelon seeds, these remaining letters hold the potential to sprout again.
